Senior Credit Specialist
About Us 🚀
Bridgit is a leading non-bank lender transforming the way Australians access property finance. Purpose-built to make property transactions faster and easier, we pioneered the Buy Now, Sell Later solution – empowering homeowners to unlock their property equity and move on their terms. With a simple digital application, fast approvals, and flexible loan options, we’re making property finance seamless and stress-free.
We’re now four years old and making huge strides. We have accredited over two-thirds of Australia’s broker network, and launched white label solutions with Australia’s largest aggregators – Connective, Aussie Home Loans, Finsure, and Loan Market Group – and we’re just getting started.
Our momentum has been recognised with awards such as Best Growth Story at the 2025 Fintech Awards and finalist for Excellence in Lending (Business & Consumer) at the 2025 Finnies.
The difference you’ll make
As a Senior Credit Specialist you’ll play a leading role in scaling and expanding Bridgit’s credit functions capabilities. This role is ideal for a seasoned lending professional with hands-on experience in residential credit; who is ready to support the Head of Lending by taking on escalations and workload of high level delegation and complex deals. This role will underpin our next stage of growth in a solely hands on capacity, no people management expectations.
What you'll do;
Residential Credit Assessment:
- Own the end-to-end assessment of complex lending applications and non-conforming scenarios.
- Bring deep expertise in risk assessment, serviceability, security structures, and business financials.
- Exercise sound judgment on exceptions and escalations, applying a balanced risk approach to high-delegation approvals.
- Act as a senior credit authority, supporting residential loan assessments and relieving the Head of Lending of complex credit workloads.
Framework & Policy Development:
- Play a key role in shaping credit frameworks, policies, and procedures, recognising policy as a guideline rather than a rigid rule set.
- Draft and refine credit exceptions to provide clarity for the wider team while enabling flexibility in decisioning.
- Partner with Risk and Compliance to ensure frameworks remain scalable, pragmatic, and aligned to Bridgit’s growth.
Stakeholder Engagement & Deal Structuring:
- Act as a key stakeholder in workshopping and structuring complex deals with brokers, business customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Provide timely, well-reasoned recommendations and clear rationale for escalated decisions.
- Proactively manage credit-related queries and maintain open, constructive communication with all stakeholders.
Risk & Compliance Ownership:
- Ensure all escalated credit decisions are aligned with responsible lending obligations and Bridgit’s risk appetite.
- Maintain robust documentation for high-level approvals, exceptions, and escalations to support audit and governance processes.
- Contribute to credit risk reviews, recommending pragmatic changes that enhance decision quality and portfolio outcomes.
Process Improvement & Technology:
- Identify opportunities to streamline complex approval workflows and embed scalability into credit processes.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations to design tools and systems that support exceptions, escalations, and nuanced decisioning.
- Champion process improvements that balance customer experience with robust credit governance.
What you’ll bring:
- Experience in residential lending — Across both conforming and non-conforming.
- Strong financial and credit analysis skills, with a sharp eye for identifying risk.
- Comfort reading and verifying supporting documents for fast decision-making.
- Excellent organisation and communication skills.
- A collaborative, curious mindset with a passion for doing great work.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and a love of process improvement.
- Bonus points if you’re familiar with broker-led channels or startup/scale-up environments.
