Associate Director - Credit & Risk
About Us 🚀
Bridgit is a leading non-bank lender transforming the way Australians access property finance. Purpose-built to make property transactions faster and easier, we pioneered the Buy Now, Sell Later solution – empowering homeowners to unlock their property equity and move on their terms. With a simple digital application, fast approvals, and flexible loan options, we’re making property finance seamless and stress-free.
We’re now five years old and making huge strides. We have accredited over three quarters of Australia’s broker network, and launched white label solutions with Australia’s largest aggregators – Connective, Aussie Home Loans, Finsure, and Loan Market Group – and we’re just getting started.
Our momentum has been recognised with awards such as Best Growth Story at the 2025 Fintech Awards, 2025 Finder People’s Choice Award for Lending Innovation, the finalist for Excellence in Lending (Business & Consumer) at the 2025 Finnies, Deloitte's tech fast 50 2025 and finally; being recognised as one of LinkedIn’s top 20 Start Up’s in Australia 2025.
The difference you’ll make
This is a senior credit leadership role with dual accountability across execution and strategy. You will own the day-to-day performance of the Sydney credit function, driving fast, consistent, and commercially sound decisions while also acting as a key support to the Head of Lending in shaping credit policy, risk appetite, and product direction. This role is designed as a step into broader credit leadership, with increasing exposure to policy, portfolio management, and strategic decision-making as the business scales.
What you’ll do
Credit Leadership & Decisioning
Act as a senior delegated credit authority across residential and commercial lending
Lead high-quality decisioning on complex transactions, balancing risk and commercial outcomes
Provide clear and consistent interpretation of credit policy
Uplift team capability through coaching, deal reviews, and structured delegation frameworks
Ensure strong ownership and accountability across all credit decisions
Pipeline & Performance Ownership
Own credit throughput, SLAs, and conversion across the pipeline (scenario → settlement)
Prioritise high-value and time-sensitive deals to maximise settlements
Partner closely with Sales (BDMs/BRMs) to actively manage pipeline flow and outcomes
Identify and remove bottlenecks impacting speed, conversion, and broker experience
Drive disciplined pipeline management with accurate, real-time visibility and ownership
2IC to Head of Lending
Act as a key support to the Head of Lending across credit execution and team performance
Own defined components of the credit function, including delegation frameworks, decision consistency, and escalations
Step into broader leadership responsibilities as required, including cross-regional alignment
Support the ongoing evolution of the credit operating model as the business scales
Strategy, Policy & Product
Contribute to the design and evolution of credit policy, aligned to risk appetite and growth objectives
Partner with senior stakeholders on new product development (e.g. residential, commercial, emerging products)
Provide insights from credit trends and deal flow to inform policy, pricing, and portfolio strategy
Play an active role in shaping how the credit function scales, including process, automation, and system improvements
Operational Excellence & Scale
Set and enforce market-leading SLAs and turnaround times
Standardise workflows across Sydney and Melbourne to ensure consistency and scalability
Drive continuous improvement across credit processes, including automation and system utilisation
Improve decision quality and consistency through QA, feedback loops, and data
Leadership & Culture
Act as the senior leader for the Sydney credit team and broader office environment
Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, responsiveness, and solution-orientation
Lead by example with strong ownership, pace, and decision-making
Partner cross-functionally (Sales, Settlements, Collections, Ops) to align credit with business objectives
What we are looking for
Deep experience across residential lending (prime + non-conforming); commercial exposure highly regarded
Proven track record operating with high DLA and making complex credit decisions
Strong commercial judgement with the ability to structure deals, not just assess risk
Experience leading teams and driving performance in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated interest or experience in credit policy, product, or portfolio strategy
High ownership mindset with comfort being accountable for outcomes
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
