Head of Credit Operations
About Us 🚀
Bridgit is a leading non-bank lender transforming the way Australians access property finance. Purpose-built to make property transactions faster and easier, we pioneered the Buy Now, Sell Later solution – empowering homeowners to unlock their property equity and move on their terms. With a simple digital application, fast approvals, and flexible loan options, we’re making property finance seamless and stress-free.
We’re now five years old and making huge strides. We have accredited over three quarters of Australia’s broker network, and launched white label solutions with Australia’s largest aggregators – Connective, Aussie Home Loans, Finsure, and Loan Market Group – and we’re just getting started.
Our momentum has been recognised with awards such as Best Growth Story at the 2025 Fintech Awards, 2025 Finder People’s Choice Award for Lending Innovation, the finalist for Excellence in Lending (Business & Consumer) at the 2025 Finnies, Deloitte's tech fast 50 2025 and finally; being recognised as one of LinkedIn’s top 20 Start Up’s in Australia 2025.
The difference you’ll make:
As Head of Credit Operations, you are the operational leader of Bridgit’s credit function. You own the execution of credit policy, architect scalable and tech-driven credit workflows, and lead a high-performing assessment team to support Bridgit’s rapid growth while maintaining a robust risk posture. You operate within the credit risk appetite owned by second-line Credit Risk, and are accountable for applying it consistently, at speed, and at scale.
What you’ll do:
Policy Execution & Operational Leadership
Apply, refine and safeguard Bridgit’s underwriting standards and credit processes, operating within the credit risk appetite set by the Head of Credit Risk and ratified by the Risk Council.
Propose changes to credit policy and underwriting criteria through the Risk Council, keeping standards aligned with growth targets and market conditions.
Act as the senior escalation point for complex, high-value or non-conforming residential and commercial mortgage applications, exercising delegated lending authority under the COO and the delegated authority matrix.
Design long-term, scalable processes that make credit assessment faster, smarter and inherently secure.
Team Leadership & Culture
Lead, coach and develop the regional Associate Directors and assessment team, fostering professional growth and a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Manage team capacity and competing priorities to consistently meet SLAs and daily, weekly and monthly growth goals.
Innovation & Tech Collaboration
Identify bottlenecks in the credit workflow and partner across departments to implement automation, AI-driven tooling and efficient lending workflows.
Use operational MI and portfolio data to monitor assessment quality, throughput and turnaround, surfacing emerging trends to second-line Credit Risk and optimising the credit funnel.
Stakeholder & Regulatory Management
Act as a senior point of contact for key broker networks, high-net-worth clients and internal teams, resolving complex queries with speed and clarity.
Ensure lending decisions and frameworks align with internal policy and regulatory standards, supporting a resilient risk culture and Bridgit’s three-lines-of-defence model.
What we are looking for:
Experience across both residential and commercial lending, with a strong foundation in residential credit and sufficient grounding in commercial to assess complex or blended applications.
A demonstrated track record of leading, mentoring and scaling credit teams.
Experience thriving within a broker-led distribution channel, non-bank lender, or a fast-growing scale-up environment where you are comfortable wearing multiple hats.
Advanced financial and credit analysis skills, with a sharp eye for risk and the ability to make swift, accurate decisions from complex supporting documents.
A working understanding of the separation between first-line credit operations and second-line credit risk, and comfort operating within a defined risk appetite and delegated authority framework.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and a passion for automation — you don’t just manage risk, you re-engineer processes to eliminate friction.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate complex credit decisions to both technical teams and external partners with empathy and clarity.
