Tech Lead - Financial Services / Lending
About Us 🚀
Bridgit is a leading non-bank lender transforming the way Australians access property equity. Purpose-built to make property transactions faster and easier, we pioneered the Buy Now, Sell Later solution – empowering homeowners to unlock their property equity and move on their terms. With a simple digital application, fast approvals, and flexible loan options, we’re making property finance seamless and stress-free.
We’re now five years old and making huge strides. We have accredited over three-quarters of Australia’s broker network, and launched white label solutions with Australia’s largest aggregators – Connective, Aussie Home Loans, Finsure, and Loan Market Group – and we’re just getting started.
Our momentum has been recognised with awards such as Best Growth Story at the 2025 Fintech Awards, 2025 Finder People’s Choice Award for Lending Innovation, the finalist for Excellence in Lending (Business & Consumer) at the 2025 Finnies, Deloitte's tech fast 50 2025 and finally; being recognised as one of LinkedIn’s top 20 Start Up’s in Australia 2025.
The difference you’ll make
You’ll be instrumental in architecting and building the core financial infrastructure of our platform as we continue to grow our industry-leading bridging finance products. Leading a core engineering squad, you will focus on critical financial systems such as loan origination, ledgers, payment flows, and account management. Working closely with product and engineering, you’ll translate complex financial requirements into secure, highly available, and scalable systems that our customers and business can trust.
Beyond delivery, you’ll help raise the bar for system architecture across the business; challenging conventions, prioritizing security and data integrity, and influencing how we think about robust financial engineering. Your work will directly impact how seamlessly customers manage their funds during their home-owning journey, setting the standard for how modern lending platforms operate under the hood.
What you'll do;
Lead the technical design, architecture, and development of secure, scalable financial services (loan management systems, ledgers, payment flows and data platforms).
Collaborate with the product and tech teams to implement robust transactional workflows and integrate with external financial, credit, or payment providers.
Write exceptionally well-tested, fault-tolerant code and proactively identify areas for technical improvement, security enhancements or infrastructure refactoring.
Set direction bringing ideas backed by rigorous technical and architectural reasoning.
Guide system design and code reviews, ensuring data integrity, consistency and compliance with financial standards.
Mentor and elevate other engineers, championing backend best practices and a culture of uncompromising quality and security.
What you’ll bring:
5+ years experience as a software engineer, with a strong focus on backend systems or full stack development.
2+ years building highly reliable transactional systems such as ledgers, payment flows, or fintech/lending platforms.
Preferably 2+ years in a technical leadership role, leading engineers within cross-functional squads and owning delivery outcomes.
Demonstrated experience working in regulated environments with an understanding of compliance, auditability, and data governance (e.g. ASIC, APRA, PCI-DSS, SOC 2, or similar).
Strong understanding of financial domain concepts such as double-entry ledgers, reconciliation, settlements, interest calculations, and idempotent transaction handling.
Proven experience owning system architecture for complex, real-world applications, including evolving systems safely over time.
Strong backend fundamentals including relational databases, data integrity, API design, and concurrency control.
Experience designing systems with high levels of correctness, consistency, and fault tolerance, especially where financial accuracy is critical.
Comfortable taking ownership of features end to end, from architecture through to production, and driving the “how” in ambiguous environments.
Experience with payment gateways, banking integrations, event-driven systems, or high-security architectures.
Strong focus on observability, monitoring, and incident response, with the ability to design systems that are debuggable and auditable.
Experience handling data migrations, backfills, and production changes safely in systems where data correctness is critical.
Thinks from first principles and can break complex system problems down to fundamentals rather than relying on default patterns.
Enjoys mentoring others, providing constructive feedback, and lifting the technical bar across the team.
High attention to detail, especially when dealing with financial data, edge cases, and production scenarios.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
Ambitious and motivated to build robust fintech infrastructure within a growing business.
Positive, pragmatic attitude with strong interpersonal skills.
